Playing card box

Keep the decks and score pad together under a sliding cover so the next game starts with a complete set. All files are free, including your customized plan.

Sliding-lid box

Keep the decks and score pad together under a sliding cover so the next game starts with a complete set.

An unobstructed covered compartment accepts original deck boxes and a small pad. The removable lid clears the whole opening during setup.

For Someone setting up and clearing a tabletop card game. Default clear opening: 202 mm × 154 mm × 59.7 mm.

Adjust dimensions and stock ↓
Measure before you start
  • Measure the decks in their actual tuck boxes or sleeves.
  • Include the score pad and any pencil in the packed arrangement and measure the tallest point.
Tools and access
  • A saw and guide for straight cuts
  • A square, measuring rule and caliper
  • Clamps and spacer strips for gluing the upper and lower lid rails
  • Offcuts matching both body and lid thickness for a sliding-fit trial
Using this organizer
  1. Remove the lid and take out each deck before dealing.
  2. Count and return cards to their original packs after the game.
  3. Return the score pad, check the opening is clear, and slide the lid closed.
What a useful result needs to do
  • Every packed deck clears the lid without compression.
  • The complete set can be removed without turning the box upside down.
  • The lid reaches its closed stop with no card edge in the track.
  • The front pull tab stays accessible and the lid meets the rear stop when closed.
If the fit is wrong
  • If sleeved cards are thicker than the example, measure the loaded deck case and increase usable height before cutting.
  • If a loose card enters a guide, remove the contents and clear the guide before moving the lid again.
Ready to make. All 12 parts fit the listed stock.

A feasible cutting layout

Numbered cuts span their parent region. Coordinates use the sheet's top-left origin. Trim all four edges of each sheet you use first. Keep unused sheets whole. This layout does not claim the lowest possible material use.

Compare your stock choices

Try this same inventory with offcuts first and standard sheets first. Each result is a feasible estimate; the solver may miss a better layout.

  1. 1. Measure and mark

Measure 12 mm main plywood and 6 mm lid plywood. Mark every part and its grain direction; recalculate before cutting if either thickness changes. Measure decks with all sleeves or tuck boxes fitted and test the lid stock in a guide offcut.

    Parts: F, B, L, P, R, U, S, T, Q · Start here
  2. 2. Cut and label the blanks

Follow the rectangular cutting map and label every instance. Machine the separate notches or grooves only after the blanks are cut. Follow the tool manufacturer’s setup and workholding instructions.

    Parts: F, B, L, P, R, U, S, T, Q · After measure
  3. 3. Dry-fit the case

Check the 250 × 190 mm footprint, square corners and centered inset base. Base clearance is 0 mm per edge; confirm the selected adhesive can bridge that gap.

    Parts: F, B, L, P, R, U, S, T, Q · After cut
  4. 4. Assemble the base and walls

Bond the base and wall contact faces, keeping the base underside flush with the wall bottoms. Clamp square and follow the adhesive cure instructions.

    Parts: F, B, L, P · After dry-fit
  5. 5. Set the lower and upper rails

Bond R at z = 59.7 mm. Fit U flush with the side tops using a 6.3 mm spacer above R. Remove spacers and clear glue squeeze-out.

    Parts: R, U, L · After glue
  6. 6. Fit the rear stop

Bond S against the back, between the side rails, with its underside at z = 71.7 mm. Keep the front entry unobstructed.

    Parts: S, B · After rails
  7. 7. Add the lid pull

Bond the 40 × 12 mm pull tab on top of the lid, centered across its width and flush with its front edge. Let the joint cure before using the pull.

    Parts: Q, T · After cut
  8. 8. Slide and check the lid

Insert T from the front. Check 0.15 mm clearance at each side and above and below, free travel to the rear stop, and full forward removal using Q. Keep the lid unglued to its rails.

    Parts: T, Q, R, U, S · After stop, pull
  9. 9. Cure, finish and check the fit

Follow the adhesive cure instructions. Smooth edges, test the intended objects and apply a compatible finish without filling the clearances. Fit four felt pads. Use only for light desktop items; no load rating is provided. Keep cards in their own packs inside the box and clear the lid guides before closing.

    Parts: F, B, L, P, R, U, S, T, Q · After slide
